Colleagues,
The Adirondack Global Sports Committee is looking for college interns and volunteers to be an integral and exciting part of the International Children’s Games http://international-childrens-games.org/icg/ to be hosted in Lake Placid January 6-11, 2019. Earlier today, we sent our student body the message below that includes a survey link https://goo.gl/forms/2OQHG7IDi5RAqA8w1 to express their interest and we would ask you to encourage students to consider participating in this regional international event that will begin before our Spring 2019 semester starts next year.
You are also welcome to join a group of faculty and administrators coming together on *Monday, March 12 at 3:15 p.m. in Science Center 320* to further discuss Clarkson’s role and opportunities for engagement with the Games’ 12- to 15- year-old athletes and their families. There is a place on the survey https://goo.gl/forms/2OQHG7IDi5RAqA8w1 if you would like to also share your interest in being part of these games and can’t join us on March 12.
In the interim, please reach out to me with questions and further ideas for our participation. I’m happy to note that earlier this week, Gov. Cuomo also announced that our region was awarded FISU’s World University Games for 2023 which will be another great way for students and our institutions of higher education to participate in international academic and cultural exchanges. Thanks. Kelly
The International Children’s Games will be coming to Lake Placid and the Adirondacks’ Region January 6-11, 2019 for competition in multiple winter sports. Attracting 800 to 1000+ youth ages 12 to 15 from cities around the world, the 53rd edition of the International Children’s Games will be in the United States for the first time ever. This is an ideal opportunity for college students who like winter sports, who want to be part of a cultural exchange with people from other nations, who want to gain experience working with and sharing their knowledge with youth, and who want to add practical skills to their resumes by working in a large, multi-faceted international event.
This short survey https://goo.gl/forms/2OQHG7IDi5RAqA8w1* is intended to gauge your initial interest in being a part of these games and to give us a way to provide you with further information later this spring as plans move forward (https://www.lakeplacid2019.com/ has more info coming!) . For more information, please contact Kelly Chezum, VP for External Relations at Clarkson University and member of the Adirondack Global Sports Committee, at kchezum@clarkson.edu.
