The correct proportions are 2/3 99% alcohol & 1/3 everything else. The rubbing alcohol you can find in drugstores, etc., typically is only 70%. The initial recipe would have less than 50% alcohol.

To be sure, use 99% rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol) or ethanol.

*Make Your Own Hand Sanitizer Gel*
*Ingredients* ½ cup pure aloe vera gel ½ cup rubbing alcohol 1 tablespoon of oil for a moisturizer (jojoba oil, vitamin E oil, coconut oil, olive oil, eucalyptus oil... ) 15 drops of essential oils, optional for scent and increased antibacterial properties (lavender, rose, tea tree, peppermint)
*Directions* Combine all of the ingredients in a sealed bottle and shake well. Add more alcohol as needed to achieve the desired consistency.
